Cara do Brasil

I was born in the city of Santos, Sao Paulo, Brasil. At the age of 11 I began studying art academically. Then at age 12 I had my first collective painting show with other artists of Santos. At this time, I was not painting but rather became interested in music and the Brazilian martial arts called Capoeira.
In 1989 I started studying art again and attended the University of Santa Cecilia in Santos, Sao Paulo and after three years of "intense" study, I graduated with a B.A. in Liberal Arts. One of the most influential aspects of that time was my friendships with other artists of my class. Through city funding, we began painting murals around the city of Santos. In 1992, after my colleagues and I had graduated, we continued working for the city painting murals in plazas, major city streets, public schools, day cares, hospitals, etc. It was in 1996 that I became a part of Paranapua of Arts Association. This was a group of around twenty artists who, under the direction of Luis Hamen, would hold meetings and shows as an open studio event to display, share, create or sell artwork In 1997 I traveled to Spain and later, to the United States where I m still living and "arting"...
